I'm Andrea, founder of Solace VA, providing professional virtual assistant and operations support to businesses in Edinburgh, across Scotland and throughout the UK.

​Solace is built around a simple idea: business owners shouldn't have to carry every moving part of their business alone.

With more than 10 years' experience managing operations, sales, customers and teams within the luxury jewellery sector, I understand what it takes to keep a busy business running behind the scenes.

 

Today, I use that experience to help business owners take control of their administration, improve their processes and systems, and take the operational workload off their plate.

 

My background is in operations, not just administration

​

Before starting Solace VA, I spent more than a decade working in the luxury jewellery industry, managing the day-to-day operations of a busy business alongside sales, customer experience and team management.

 

My responsibilities included managing teams of 20–30 people, supporting recruitment and onboarding, training staff, working with directors on business planning, managing customer-facing and back-of-house operations, and overseeing the detail and processes that keep a business running smoothly.

It was an environment where organisation, discretion, accuracy and attention to detail weren't optional.

 

They were essential.

 

That experience gave me a practical understanding of what happens behind the scenes in a growing business — and how quickly processes, communication and systems can become difficult to manage when everything is sitting with one person.

 

Why I started Solace VA

​

After becoming a mother, I stepped away from the corporate world to be fully present with my young children.

 

It was a very different chapter of my life, but one that strengthened skills I had already developed throughout my career — organisation, adaptability, prioritisation and problem-solving — in ways I hadn't expected.

 

It also gave me a different perspective on what flexibility really means.

 

I knew I wanted to return to using the experience I'd built over more than a decade in operations, sales and team management, but I wanted to do it in a way that allowed me to build a business around the balance that matters most to me.

 

That's why I created Solace VA.

 

Solace brings together my professional experience in operations with the flexible, practical support that modern business owners need — helping them take control of the day-to-day, improve the way their business works and have someone they can genuinely rely on.

 

Building Solace has allowed me to create a business that reflects both sides of who I am: an experienced operations professional and a mother who understands the importance of making work fit around real life.
